The Centre for Continuous Electoral Training was awarded the ‘Most Proactive Public Institution’ category at the 2019 Equality Gala organised by the Council for Preventing and Eliminating Discrimination and Ensuring Equality.
Date: 24.05.2019

The Centre for Continuous Electoral Training was awarded the ‘Most Proactive Public Institution’ category at the 2019 Equality Gala, receiving a trophy and diploma for activities dedicated to voters from marginalised groups and for fostering a non-discriminatory attitude towards them, at the International Conference ‘Situation on Preventing and Eliminating Discrimination in the Republic of Moldova in 2018’, organised by the Council for Preventing and Eliminating Discrimination and Ensuring Equality.

Pavel CABADENCO, CCET Director, stated for Moldova1 reporters that the ‘Centre for Continuous Electoral Training by the Central Electoral Commission received this award for ensuring equality of participation in the election process for all categories of voters, regardless of gender, nationality, race, ability or disability.’

At the event, CCET was mentioned as a public institution standing out as conducting actions with a social impact, focusing its activities on vulnerable groups, in order to increase the election inclusion of all persons, especially of those with special needs and ethnic minorities.

Note that during 2018, the Central Electoral Commission and the Centre for Continuous Electoral Training carried out a wide-ranging campaign on educating and informing the citizens about the electoral system and the voting procedure. The campaign was carried out under ‘Enhancing Democracy in Moldova Through Inclusive and Transparent Elections’ Project, implemented by UNDP Moldova with the financial support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the British Embassy in Chisinau through the Good Governance Fund and the Embassy of Netherlands through the Matra Program.

The 2018 CEC and CCET communication strategy placed a strong emphasis on direct dialogue with the citizens of Moldova, including those in the Diaspora. For almost two months – in April and May – a mobile election campaign entitled ‘Democracy Matters’ was organised.
