Notice to all interested: Registration for the Weekend Electoral School

Do you want to learn more about elections? Do you want to understand mechanisms of the new electoral system of Republic of Moldova? Do you believe you can contribute towards developing a new generation of electoral actors in the spirit of a true electoral democracy?

If YES, then come register for the WEEKEND ELECTORAL SCHOOL.

The Centre for Continuous Electoral Training organized the first edition of the Weekend Electoral School for young voters, representatives of the civil society and youth branches of political parties. This school aims to educate the young generation of electoral actors and to create incentives for their involvement in the electoral process.

The school aims to teach on the following topics:

•       Introduction to elections;

•       Electoral systems and electoral management;

•       Public and political communication;

•       Analysis of the electoral behaviour;

•       Principles of good practice in elections;

•       Elections – moment of truth.

Participants to this school will benefit from the large experience of trainers and will have the opportunity to communicate with several special invitees, experts in their field. Interactive teaching methods will be applied, aimed to develop skills and competences.

The Weekend Electoral School will be held during two weekends, 20th through 22nd October and 3rd through 5th November 2017 at the touristic complex Vatra in Vadul lui Voda city. Transport from Chisinau to Vadul lui Voda, accommodation and food expenses will be covered by organizers. The working language of the school will be Romanian.

Terms of selection and attendance:

•       Age: 18-30

•       Availability to attend the entire period, i.e. 20th, 21st, 22nd October and 3rd, 4th, 5th November 2017;

•       Availability to do a homework, that will be given within the time frame 23rd October – 2nd November;

•       Openness to fill in the form „Weekend Electoral School” available online here not later than 16th October 2017;

Assessment of candidates will be performed on 17th October.

This activity is organized within the Campaign of information and education of citizens “I participate! I learn! I decide!” developed by CICDE in cooperation with the Central Election Commission of Republic of Moldova. This event is also part of the project “Enhancing democracy in Moldova through inclusive and transparent elections”, implemented by UNDP Moldova with the financial support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Embassy of Netherlands through MATRA  Programme.

The Centre for Continuous Electoral Training by the Central Elections Commission of the Republic of Moldova is a public institution, created by the CEC according to art. 261 from the Electoral Code. It aims to train and certify election officials, as well as other parties involved in the electoral process of the Republic of Moldova.

From November through December 2017, the Centre for Continuous Electoral Training, in cooperation with the Central Election Commission, has piloted the joint training project for public local authority staff (State Register of Voters (SRV) registrars) responsible for voters lists. This is an online training on CICDE’s E-learning training platform and aims at offering the theoretical part of the course for SRV Registrars. On 26th November, over 70 young people from Chisinau high schools have participated in the intellectual game “What? Where? When?” on elections topic. Young people from 13 education institutions have used their analytical abilities and erudition to answer some electoral questions, formulated in such a way, so that answers are found logically and by means of general knowledge.
